We bet you would have never expected to read this headline. And trust us, we weren’t ready for this video either! This video posted below is one of those that you have to see to actually believe type videos. Because, after all, what in the world is a deer doing inside a grocery store? Perhaps she couldn’t find the right seeds outside.

Check Out This Deer in the Video Below!

Deer Spotted in North Carolina

The Facebook reel shown above shares footage of a deer that was spotted in North Carolina. ABC News saw this viral video and just had to share it with their 18 million followers. Since they posted it last month it has already received close to three million views.

It’s not that rare to see a deer in North Carolina. According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, there are about a million white-tailed deer. But, we’re not sure how many like to shop at the local grocery stores. (Insert sarcasm.) There’s not a lot of concrete research out there about that.

Lost Deer Walks Into a Grocery Store

As the video starts out, we see numerous people shopping at this grocery store. And the person filming was smart enough to capture this hilarious footage that would later go viral. Directly in front of them was a young doe that was walking in the store! And no, she’s not shopping with a farmer. But, instead, she appears to be lost.

Some very kind shoppers helped to guide her out of the grocery store gently. They were careful not to spook her. Once out the door, this deer seems relieved to be back out among the fresh open air that she is used to.

Deer (Odocoileus virginiana) are known to be very skittish animals. This is one of the main reasons why deer hunters are so patient in their hunts and know the art of silence. The mere crinkle of a leaf is enough to spook a deer.

In fact, the Massachusetts government even recommends if you’re trying to keep deer out of your yard that “A motion activated sprinkler seems to be the most promising deterrent to keep deer away.”

However, as we can see from the video posted above, these people wanted to ensure this deer got out safely. And that she had nothing to fear from them. It’s important to remember that even though we don’t mean animals like this deer any harm, the animal doesn’t always know that. So it’s best to keep your distance.
