Gorilla Sighting

The next TikTok video posted just above comes to us from Zoos around the world. This video was shared by the Africa Image TikTok page. This channel shares various animal videos that go viral. We see videos of animals such as leopards, elephants, dogs, cats, black bears, lions, and mountain lions to name a few.

Gorilla Vs. Human Mother

At the start of this heartwarming video shown at the top, we see that a mother at a zoo has bent down to a gorilla enclosure. She has her sleeping baby in her arms. This baby can’t be more than a few months old. The gorilla is intently pressed up against the glass, looking straight at the baby. Then the video editors write, “Human wait! Let me show you my baby.”

And then the mother gorilla runs across her enclosure. She is grabbing her baby to show this mother. It’s quite comical to see the mother gorilla holding her baby up by an arm and swinging it around like she is proud of what she’s accomplished.

At 34 seconds, we are now taken to another zoo, where a large orangutan is looking at a family with young kids all around. Quite comically, we see the orangutan gesture for the father to bring his baby over. The father comes closer, holding this newborn baby in his arms, and shows the baby to her. The orangutan points at the baby and moves closer toward the glass to see the baby better.

And then, after 54 seconds, we see that the orangutan is gesturing to another mother close by to bring her baby for her to see. We want you to pause the video above at 56 seconds, and we want you to just look at the orangutan. Look at the love she has for this baby. If this didn’t make you smile, we don’t know what will!

How Big Are Orangutans?

Orangutans are exceptionally adept at manipulating their environments through the use of tools and memories.

This was one big orangutan! Orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus, Pongo abelii, Pongo tapanuliensis) can reach between 66-200 pounds. They are also to reach between 4-5 feet in height at full maturity.

However, this doesn’t come close to the largest orangutan ever recorded! The largest was named Andy, who was an overweight male orangutan in captivity. He weighed in 1959 and weighed 450 pounds!
