Imagine this, it’s a picturesque day, and you step outside your front door to complete the tasks you normally would. Perhaps you are going to work, watering the lawn, or grocery shopping. Only when you step outside, you are smacked in the face by not one, not two, not three, but dozens of locusts!
Well, for this one neighborhood bystander, they did not have to picture anything, as this happened to them in real life! And they were lucky enough to capture it on camera for all of us to see.

Some of the most terrifying natural disasters come from stories in the Bible.
Locust Plague in the Bible
One such instance takes place in the book of Exodus. It is said that God wanted to free the Israelite slaves, and Pharaoh would not let them go. God sent a plague of locusts to devour the land.
“14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested on all the territory of Egypt. They were very severe; previously there had been no such locusts as they, nor shall there be such after them. 15 For they covered the face of the whole earth so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the trees or the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 10:14-15, New King James Version)
If that isn’t just downright scary and creepy, we don’t know what is! And just like the video post, we see literal waves of locusts covering this neighborhood. They are covering the ground so much that if you were to walk on the ground, you would be crunching them.
In the air, they are flying around so much that one would think there was a tremendous dust storm kicking up in the desert.
Our favorite part of this video is the title, “Mom, do we have any bug spray in the house?” As humorous as this is, we can only imagine that if someone were to open their door, dozens of locusts would fly right in.
How Big is a Locust?
The locust of the family Acrididae is a long-legged insect that can reach approximately 41–51 millimeters (1.61-2 inches) long. To put this in comparison, they are about the size of a paperclip!
With literal thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of locusts, we can not imagine living in that neighborhood!
