There are lots of hubs worth checking out in the beautiful country of Italy, and thankfully, there are airports located all over the place. From Venice to Rome to Catania, here’s a summary of some of the largest airports in Italy. No matter where you’re coming from, you’ll be sure to snag a flight to one of these great airports.

The seventh-largest airport in Italy is the Bologna-Guglielmo Marconi Airport. This airport serves the city of Bologna, which is located in the north-central region of Italy, just north of both Florence and San Marino. This airport has 33 airlines and 64 destinations, making it easy to access. In 2022, the Bologna-Guglielmo Marconi Airport served 8,496,000 travelers, many of whom were touring the central region of Italy.

The fifth-largest airport in Italy is the Catania-Fontanarossa Airport. In 2022, this airport in Catania served just over 10 million passengers. This airport sits on Sicily’s east coast, providing ample access to the country’s southern regions. It was the first airport in the region in 1924 and is Siciliy’s busiest airport.

3. Il Caravaggio International Airport

The Il Caravaggio International Airport is the third-largest airport in Italy. It goes by a few other names, including the Orio al Serio International Airport. This airport served 13,155,806 travelers in 2022. It’s located in Bergamo and flies to 80 destinations. Bergamo is a part of the Milan metropolitan area, so flying into this airport will put you in a prime location to explore northern Italy.

2. Milan Malpensa International Airport

Malpensa International Airport has 75 working airlines flying to just over 100 destinations, making it an accessible airport for folks from all over the world.

Finally, the largest airport in Italy is the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, located in Rome. In 2022, this airport served 29,360,613 total passengers. Nearly 30 million travelers is no small feat. The Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport serves the largest number of airlines of all Italian airports, too, with an astonishing 92 working airlines.
