This Tall Bear Climbs On Top of a Dumpster Like He’s King of The Trash

As humans, in order to survive we will work as hard as we can at our jobs to get the money needed to find a place to live and food to eat. Well, when animals need to survive in the wild they will do just about anything that they can to make it through. However, they don’t have the luxury of something as monetary as money. They have to go out searching for everything they need to survive. And when they can’t find it in their territory, they will start to venture into local towns.

Tennesse Bear Stands On Top of Dumpster

The Facebook reel shown in the above section takes us to Tennessee, where a bear digs for food in a dumpster. Meteorologist Ben Cathey picked this viral video up and shared it on his platform. And since posting it less than a month ago, it has received more than two million views. 

Black Bear Hunting for Food

As the video above starts out, we see that someone driving by this spot slowed down and pulled their camera out when they noticed a bear. There are only about 6,000 black bears that live in Tennessee, and so seeing a bear just by itself would be reason enough for this bystander to want to capture some images of him. However, that’s not what caught their attention. 

This black bear starts to climb the front of the dumpster! Where we might envision this bear struggling to get up, as we can see from the video, this bear didn’t have any trouble climbing on top. For reference, a dumpster can be a range of sizes from 3-8 feet tall! 

Once he reaches the top, he stops momentarily to take in the scenery. Almost as if he is proud of himself for being king of the hill, at least king of the dumpster. Then he begins to climb inside the dumpster, where he disappears while searching for food. 

Is It Okay To Feed Bears?

There are few things more disheartening than seeing a starving animal unable to find food. And where we might have the heart to want to help animals get food, it can be detrimental to their and our way of life to do so.

According to the Tennessee government, “The deliberate and accidental feeding of bears is socially irresponsible and causes animals to become conditioned and habituated to people. Bears that habituate to human presence eventually become a threat to human safety.” 

It is encouraged to keep your food covered if you are living near bears and close your dumpsters. As we can see, the scent of food from this dumpster sent this bear running.
