Have you seen the commercial where an old woman falls and presses her life alert button? And says, “Help, I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up.” As comical as that phrase has become, we know that type of situation is dire. Well, the same can be said of an animal that has fallen. However, they don’t have the option for life alerts where medical professionals will come to their aid. Well, lucky for this deer who fell, there just happened to be a kind bystander walking by.
Bystander Finds Deer Trapped
The short YouTube video clip shown at the top shares footage of a man finding a deer trapped. The We Love Animals YouTube page shared this heartwarming video with their two million+ subscribers. This channel is dedicated to spreading love for all animals, whether wild or domestic. Their most recent videos are of animals like bucks, cats, bunny rabbits, dolphins, and dogs.
Deer Gets Heroically Saved
As the video above starts out, we see a deer falling into a muddy pit and not being able to move. Given how calm this animal was, it was most likely there for an extended period of time. The grass all around the pit is very high. So it’s not surprising that some animals would eventually fall into it. We can see just right next to this pit is a fence. This was likely built to keep animals out, and especially away from this pit.
However, according to the Texas Government, “Deer can run as fast as 36 mph, jump as high as 8.5 feet, and leap as far as 30 feet.” With that type of speed and jumping ability, this deer probably leaped right over that fence and landed inside the pit.
Two men walking by saw this deer in distress. As much as they wanted to help the deer, trying to get any animal out, let alone one so big, is a tremendous struggle. Between the two of them, they were finally able to pull the deer straight out. The second the deer’s hooves hit the ground, it took off running. It was the scare of his life, and he was ready to get back home.
Causes of Death in Deer
There are over 40 species of deer that live worldwide. Causes of death in these animals include natural causes, hemorrhagic disease, and human hunting.
Along with these main causes of death, manmade structures are also a growing issue. Things such as gates, roads, bridges, electric poles, and more. It is our duty to care for the animals that we come across. Especially those who are injured and have no hope of survival if we do not help them. Lucky for this deer, he had people willing to do whatever they needed to get him out.
