When we think of man’s best friend, our minds immediately go to dogs. However, animals from all over the world have formed bonds with humans, that sometimes we as people don’t even understand. Whether it is a fish tank full of goldfish, a python curled up in a glass tank, or a lion that is in a conservatory. Well, let’s add to this vivacious list, a large brown bear.
Brown Bear Being Friendly
The YouTube video clip shown at the very top of this blog post shares footage of an enormous brown bear being very friendly to his friend. The Viral Snare Rights Management YouTube page caught wind of this viral video and knew they just had to share it with their seven million+ subscribers. In addition to various viral entertainment videos, we also see footage of animals such as German shepherds, lions, and monkeys.
Bear and Man – The Best of Friends!
As the video starts we see this big burly man sitting outside on a rock near a stream it sounds like. Sitting right next to this man is a massive brown bear. There is no fear in this man’s eyes, as he is quite friendly with this bear. Notice his calm demeanor even toward a bear that is his friend.
The National Park Service reminds us to “Stay calm and remember that most bears do not want to attack you.” And as we can see here, attacking was not this bear’s intention here. He simply wanted to enjoy this afternoon with his friend near the stream.
As the bear gets close to seemingly kiss him, we see the man jerk away slightly and say “no.” Finally, the bear sits, as if he knows that is what he’s supposed to do. At that point, we see the man feed him some treats. And the bear almost is like a dog wagging its tail. He couldn’t be happier than eating some treats next to his best friend.
Are Bears Friendly?
Over and over again, when we look at research on bears, we are told that bears in general are not friendly. Typically they are very shy creatures that just want to be left alone. Despite many predeterminations that we might have regarding bears, their desire is not to hunt us down and kill us.
However, in many ways, bears can be just like us as humans the National Park Service says. “Bears are always doing unexpected and perverse things. That is one of the reasons why they seem so human…He has his moods when he is sulky, when he is friendly, or when he is just plain ornery.” And this is perhaps why this man was so friendly with this bear.
The man in this video posted at the top could have developed this relationship with this bear over a long period which is why we see this bond. But, as a rule of thumb, if you come across a bear, just give them the space they need, as they will do for you.
