Have you ever been witness to a situation that went from bad to worse? Perhaps it was a fight at work, a natural disaster, or road rage. We are always surprised when a situation we already have deemed disastrous turns worse in the blink of an eye. Wild animals are no exception to this. Their fights can turn very deadly in no time at all.

The video shows two grown grizzly bears fighting. A passerby has stopped on the side of this road to witness this yelling match between these two enormous beasts. The grizzlies are growling loudly at each other as if they are trying to see who can growl the loudest.

We see them opening their mouths as wide as they can. Each creeps in closer to see whose mouth is bigger. If we stop at ten seconds, it looks as if these grizzly bears might stop their yelling and go about their day. But, no such luck. Within mere seconds, the grizzly bear on our left lashes out. They stand up, each towering bigger than their opponent.

We see the grizzly bear on the left shove the other bear so hard he tumbles back. If this doesn’t look like a full-on fight that two men might have, we don’t know what does. As they push each other back and forth, they both manage to stay standing on their hind legs.

That is until the more aggressive bear on the left grabs the other bear around the neck and pulls it down with so much force he lands on his back. This angers him, and they now go for a full-on tussle. It brings them off the road, and the bear on the right pushes his opponent down into the grass.

The video ends with one of the grizzly bears chasing the other one away. They are both running straight toward the person filming! Even in a car, we see the camera moving around violently as they try to move. After all, who would want two full-grown angry grizzly bears crashing into their car?

Grizzly bears are fierce creatures that are known for their sharp claws, swift speed, and amazing height. Standing up, a full-grown grizzly can be anywhere from 7-10 feet tall. They weigh between 400-800 pounds as well.

Although this is nothing compared to the largest grizzly bear ever recorded. The largest grizzly was found in the great state of Alaska. He weighed 1,600 pounds and stood at 10 feet tall.

Is it Normal for Grizzly Bears to Fight Each Other?

As we witnessed in the video, grizzly bears communicate whenever they encounter each other – even if it’s merely growling and opening their mouths. The video offered a perfect example of two bears establishing a hierarchy to determine which bear got to stay and which had to move on to another territory.

The larger bear prevailed – but that isn’t always the case. A smaller bear could win by oozing an alpha attitude. After growling, opening their mouths, and standing upright – these contests sometimes end in a fight for dominance. Bears tend not to fight each other unless it is necessary – usually posturing is all that is required. The larger bear in the video proved this point – it didn’t do anything to escalate the argument until the smaller bear swiped at it – then, it proceeded to dominate the smaller bear and send it running into the woods. Bears understand the language of dominance and submission – with posturing and the occasional fight being the means of communication.
