On this particularly beautiful day at the beach, a husband and wife encounter a massive saltwater crocodile that attempts to grab a small entree.

Saltwater Crocodile Sighting

This next video shows an enormous saltwater crocodile that gets just a little bit too close to these two beachgoers. A woman and her husband were just looking for a normal day at the beach when this beast swam up.

This video is a tad bit mysterious because we’re not exactly sure where this takes place! There is no background information on this video we found. However, the accents of the woman filming the video lead us to believe this is in Australia! Of course, this woman could have been on vacation elsewhere; however, there are known to be quite a few saltwater crocodiles in Australia. Let’s take a look at that before we dive into what happens on this day.

How Many Saltwater Crocodiles are in Australia?

Saltwater crocodiles are large reptiles that weigh anywhere from 400-1,150 pounds. However, this isn’t the largest that was ever recorded. (We will dive into that later!) It is estimated that there are 200,000 left in their population. It is considered “uncertain” if their species is decreasing, increasing, or stable, according to the Crocodiles of the World organization.

Out of the 200,000 estimated saltwater crocodiles, it is estimated that over 100,000 of them live in and around Australia alone. So, it is no wonder that this couple saw a saltwater crocodile!

Saltwater Crocodile Vs. Beachgoer

At the start of this video, this woman noticed a saltwater crocodile quickly approaching. She then pans the camera and shows us a small shark that had washed up to shore. She had attempted to get this shark back into the water, but not before this crocodile smelled this shark and came running, or rather swimming.

If we pause the video at 1:08, we see this massive saltwater crocodile has reached the shore and is crawling up to get this small shark. And while this shark isn’t a full meal because of how small it is, this will be a good entree for him.

If we pause toward the end of the video at 2:59, we see the gorgeous view of the sunset in the distance. And this saltwater crocodile just swims off slowly into the sunset. This perfectly laid-out small buffet was enough for him for right now.
