When we think of wedding crashers, perhaps our minds go to the movie “Wedding Crasher,” where two unsuspecting friends go crazy at weddings. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are the best of friends, and they go around from wedding to wedding, crashing each party. Well, this similar experience happened at a wedding in Montana. However, it was not until the vows were being read that we saw the wedding crasher was an enormous grizzly bear!
Wait no further! See what happens below.
Grizzly Bear Attack at the Glacier National Park
The next stunning YouTube video takes us to the Glacier National Park located in Montana.
“A wedding ceremony was taking place on the shore of Two Medicine Lake in Glacier National Park when most of the way through the groom’s vows, a grizzly charged out of the brush onto the north shore and attacked a moose calf as the mother looked on. We had spotted the moose and calf 10 minutes before moving briskly through the forest further up the mountain – the bear must have been chasing them for at least a little bit.”
Wedding Crash
As the video begins, we see a beautiful young couple standing outside. And the to-be-husband is reciting his vows to his young bride-to-be. As the man is finishing up his vows, we hear a commotion at the wedding party. The commotion was so great that it stopped the ceremony as everyone looked on!
Across the water, an enormous grizzly bear is taking down a gigantic moose! It is difficult to see two enormous animals that are going at it with one another. However, the grizzly bear most definitely prevails and will use this large prey to fill himself up.
Is It Normal Behavior for Grizzly Bears to Attack Moose?
The short answer here is yes, however, it is a rare event. When Grizzly bears come out of hibernation, they can be hungry and therefore aggressive. In these moments it is not uncommon to see bears hunting moose with large antlers. While large adult moose aren’t usually on the menu, grizzly bears will target young moose calves under the age of about two months.
Additionally, while moose have antlers that are capable of injuring the grizzly, if these two animals go head-to-head in a fight, a grizzly bear would be the victor.
How Big is a Moose?
When we think of a grizzly bear, it is difficult to imagine any animal being larger than them. They just seem larger than life! Grizzly bears weigh up to 800 pounds and can stand 10 feet tall.
However, this gigantic moose can weigh up to 1,580 pounds! Just imagine the fierceness that this bear had to be able to take down an animal that was almost twice its size.
Grizzly bears, although fierce, are not carnivores. They are omnivores, which means they will eat both plant matter and meat. We will often see bears eating things such as salmon, fruit, and other fish. However, they are known to take down large prey like this moose here that can feed them for several days.
