What better way to celebrate your dog than with a cake that’s just for them? Maybe it’s a birthday, a gotcha day, or a holiday. Whatever the excuse, treating your dog to something special is always worth it! Buying something premade is unnecessary when a pup-friendly cake is so easy to make at home. These are some of the best homemade dog cake recipes, and they’re all even yummy enough to share with your buddy!
4 Ingredient Apple Dog Cake

Even if you’re not comfortable around a kitchen, this single-serving cake recipe is super easy to make. All you need are apples, peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t have xylitol, which is toxic for dogs), an egg, and some baking powder. The size is just right for small pups or as a treat for a dog who would eat a whole cake in a couple of bites!
Ingredients:
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 tablespoons peanut butter (again, make sure there’s no xylitol in the ingredients)
- 1/2 apple that has been peeled and grated. Be sure to cut away the core and any seeds, which are toxic for dogs.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Stir until smooth.
- Oil or spray the baking pan or muffin tin.
- Pour the batter into the pan or tin.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and dry.
- Cool for 10 minutes in the pan or tin. Remove from the pan and allow to cool completely.
- Frost with a layer of peanut butter or Greek yogurt, and top with dog treats for an extra touch!
Pumpkin Carrot Pupcakes

Pumpkin is great for dogs’ digestion, whether they’re having diarrhea or constipation.

For parties with a bunch of dogs, “pupcakes” are a good idea. That way everybody can have their own dessert. This recipe is filled with yummy, natural ingredients that you’ll be tempted to try yourself.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup shredded carrot
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
For Frosting:
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 2 oz. peanut butter
- 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Whisk all the ingredients together in a medium bowl.
- Using an ice cream scoop, scoop batter into a lined 6-muffin tin.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until firm.
- Place all of the ingredients for the frosting in a bowl and mix well.
- Spread the frosting onto cooled cupcakes.
Doggie Birthday Cake

As the name says, this tasty cake is the perfect way to celebrate your pup on their birthday. The addition of honey and vanilla makes it sweet enough that you may want to cut yourself a slice.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup honey (optional)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup whole wheat or white flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a tube cake pan or ring mold pan.
- Combine egg, honey, peanut butter, oil, and vanilla in a large bowl; blend well.
- Stir in carrots until well combined.
- Add flour and baking soda to the mixture.
- Spoon cake batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, at about 40 minutes.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Banana Dog Cake

This cake combines banana and applesauce for a touch of sweetness. The human-grade ingredients are probably already in your pantry.
Ingredients:

- 1 and 2/3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1 egg
For Frosting:
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp natural peanut butter
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda.
- Mix in the apple sauce, vegetable oil, mashed banana, and egg.
- Lightly grease two 6-inch cake pans with cooking spray. Place a round piece of parchment paper in the bottom of each pan to prevent sticking.
- Divide the cake batter evenly between the two pans.
- Bake the cakes for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once the cakes are baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to fully cool.
For the Frosting:
- Stir together the yogurt and peanut butter.
- Place a cooled cake layer on a plate or cake stand. Spread frosting on the cake, then add the second layer.
- Consider topping with carrot sprinkles or dog treats for the finishing touch.
Meat Lover’s Dog Cake

Dogs shouldn’t eat raw meat, but they can enjoy a cooked meat cake!

Dog cakes don’t have to be flour and fruit-based. Your pup will go nuts for this meatloaf-like cake with hearty ground beef. You can use whatever veggies that your dog likes best.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
Frosting Ingredients:
- 1 potato
- 1/2 cup water
- Peas and carrots (or other veggie of choice)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350℉.
- Chop and boil potatoes until soft, around 20 minutes.
- Mix together beef, egg, oats, carrots and peas.
- Grease baking tins and add meat. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until meat is cooked through.
- While the meat is baking, make the mashed potato frosting. Add boiled potatoes to a bowl. Mix with a hand mixer, adding water until your potatoes reach your desired consistency.
- Once the meat cakes have cooled, frost them with potatoes and decorate them with veggies.
