He holds the current IGFA All-Tackle World Record. It took Gregory Myerson only 15 minutes to reel in the giant with his St. Croix rod and Quantum reel. While reeling it in, the fish put up a fight and Myerson slipped on eel slime, hurting his ribs on the gunwale of the boat. He caught the fish around 8 PM and the next day took it to Shoreline Bait and Tackle to be weighed.
