Where are places you might expect to see a bear? Perhaps you immediately thought of the woods. This would be the place, the only place we might add, that we should see bears. But we know that sometimes we might find bears in our backyards or even bears rummaging through our trash if we live near a populace bear location.

However, the last place we would expect to see a bear would be in the backseat of our car! A kind neighbor who happened to be leaving one day saw a small black bear roaming up and down their small gravel road. And as they pull out their camera, they watch in horror as this bear tries to open their neighbor’s car door!

Well, wait a moment. The bear doesn’t just try, he is actually able to get the door open! As he gets it open, the door’s gravity quickly closes it shut. But this does not deter this inquisitive young cub. He tries again, and as he does, we hear the neighbor saying, “Oh no!” at one point, she even encourages the driver of her car to “honk the horn.”

This black bear doesn’t have the strength to keep this heavy door open, so he manages to slip by and climb up into the backseat simply! We guess he was looking to lie on the cool leather in the backseat and relax. Or perhaps he wanted to join this family on their next outing into town to buy some honey. Either way, this would be one shocking surprise for the people who own this car. Lucky for them, they had a neighbor who witnessed the whole thing!

How Big Do Black Bears Get?

As we can see from this TikTok video posted below, this black bear is a young cub and not a full-grown adult. Can you imagine if this had actually been an adult male bear climbing into this neighbor’s car? They, for sure, would have had to redo the shocks on that car.

But black bears can reach up to 1.3-2 meters (4.25-6.5 feet) in height. And these bears weigh anywhere from 100-270 kilograms (220-594 pounds).

The biggest black bear ever recorded was killed in New Brunswick in 1972. This enormous bear weighed 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) and was 2.41 meters (7 feet 11 inches) tall.
