We’ve heard of the movie “Prison Break.” A pair of brothers break out of prison and go on the run from the law. Well, here in Pennsylvania, we’ve got a pet pig who made a break from his beloved home. And he took to the road. Help us find Kevin Bacon and bring him home to his family!

Pig Lost in Pennsylvania

Just a few weeks ago, a pet pig named “Kevin Bacon” made a beeline for freedom. He was able to get loose and ran away. Chelsea Rumbaugh and her family adopted Kevin Bacon, their pet pig, into their family in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Shortly after being with them, he found his escape route, and he took it.

It was reported that he took out a fence post and was able to get free and run off on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

“We got a call from the campground across the street and they said ‘Hey, we’ve got your pig walking around,'” Rumbaugh said. “That’s really what started the search.”

It was strange that Kevin Bacon would run off because he was so well-liked by the other piglets that were there. Rumbaugh even shared an adorable video of the piglets jumping all around their newfound friend and knew that he was well-liked by the other animals.

The community has banded together to help bring Kevin Bacon home to his beloved family. He has been spotted; however, the attempts to get him home safely haven’t been successful.

“I think he is just punking me at this point,” Rumbaugh wrote in another post paired with a video of Kevin digging up her flowers.”

Pigs (Sus scrofa scrofa) of the family Suidae can be found in locations such as Asia, Eurasia, Europe, and North America. They are extremely populous, and there are estimated to be approximately 784 million pigs. Their conservation status is set as the least concern.

There are 16 species of pig in the Suidae family. Species like the wild boar, warthog, pygmy hogs, and domestic pigs, to name a few.

There are estimated to be approximately 3,000 wild hogs, or wild pigs, in Pennsylvania. “Feral swine are called by many names including; wild boar, wild hog, razorback, piney woods rooter, and Russian or Eurasian boar.” Now, it’s important to note that the state of Pennsylvania places a warning on feral pigs.

“Feral swine carry diseases that infect humans, domestic animals, and wildlife. They destroy property and habitat and threaten commercial pork producers.”

Lucky for Kevin Bacon, he has a well-loved family, and they just need to get this mischievous pig back home as quickly and safely as possible.
