Buffalos are large mammals that could easily beat a lion one-on-one. However, with a whole lion pride, a lone buffalo has little hope of coming out alive. However, this one lucky buffalo had a herd of rescuers.

Lion Pride Sighting in Africa

This YouTube video takes us to Africa. This video was shared by the Incredible Wild Animals Sighting Channel. This page provides first-hand footage of happenings in Africa. We often see videos on this channel of animals such as hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, cheetahs, and crocodiles, to name a few. They offer a short description of what happened below.

“The lion pride vs buffalo pride attack, it’s amazing to see this rare sighting of wild animals predator vs prey and it’s nature this animal who is strong will survive living in the jungle and we know the lion is a powerful predator and buffalo is prey that has hunting by a predator like a lion.”

At the start of this video posted below, we see that this tour has stopped to watch one of nature’s most natural things occur. This lion pride has hunted down a buffalo and is attempting to take it down. We see that at the start, two adult lions are on top of this buffalo trying to take it down.

However, watch as the camera pans at nine seconds, and see how big this lion pride is! We can count at least 10 in the view of this camera. Others jump in to help take this beast down. While most of them are going for the top of this beast, we see one lion bend down and grab a bite of this buffalo’s leg.

However, just as this lion does that, a herd of buffalo rescuers come to save the day! They rush in on this pride, and the lions disperse. The buffalos quickly back off after chasing the lions away. But, now the lions are angry, and they turn to see if they can hunt these buffalo down to take one with them. And they were able to!

How Large Do Buffalo Herds Get?

Buffalos (Syncerus caffer) of the genus Syncerus are mammals that live in Africa. It is estimated that some 570,000 buffalos reside in Africa. Their conservation status is considered to be of the least concern.

These mammals have a herd mentality. And their herds can reach as few as 50 to as many as 500. So, when this herd rushed in on these lions, we saw how quickly the lions backed off. After all, having a herd of up to 2,000-pound buffalos charging at you would be enough to make anyone rethink their position.
