It’s easy to be impressed with the eagle. These birds are magnificent creatures for so many reasons. The main ones being their absolute beauty. These majestic birds are brown, grey, yellow, black, and white in appearance. It’s not just their looks but their attitude as well that gives them a kind of respect among birds.

Not only are they well-known for their appearance, but they are also known for their supersonic speed. While we might be impressed with the fastest land animal, the cheetah, going 70 miles per hour, it doesn’t hold a candle to the eagle. Eagles can fly up to 100 miles per hour!

So, there is so much to be impressed by when it comes to the eagle. Let’s turn our attention now to the eagle’s talons and his nest-making skills below.

Massive Eagle Sighting in Alaska

This next Instagram video posted at the bottom of this blog post takes us to the great state of Alaska. We are in Juneau, which is best known for the Mendenhall Glacier and the Juneau Gold Rush of 1880.

This video was filmed and uploaded on the Instagram page Marys Mark. She is a dedicated wildlife enthusiast who shares her adventures in Alaska. She creates incredible art by photographing and filming some of nature’s most beautiful animals. On her website and Instagram page, we will see breathtaking art, such as orcas, eagles, humpback whales, king crabs, and gorgeous mountains.

At the start of this Instagram reel, we see an eagle who is just quite frankly massive in size. We see he is trying to teach his talons how to grab onto the dirt and roots below. We can imagine how difficult it has to be to pull this up with your strength.

Imagine, when you want to dig up the earth to plant a tree, some grass, or even to remove something, what do you use? Well, you typically use a shovel to break up the earth and the roots that are there. However, for this eagle, grabbing it with his large talons is enough strength needed to get this job done.

How Big Are Eagle Talons?

There are all sorts of feet, hooves, and paws in the animal kingdom. And for the eagle, they have long and sharp talons that are made for killing and for making their nests. There are typically four talons that can be found on each foot. These talons are a few inches long. Some eagles, like the harpy eagle, can have talons that grow up to 5 inches in length!
