1. Central Park Dog Park

The Central Park Dog Park is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations in Fremont among dog owners! It is located near the Fremont Animal Shelter and can be accessed from Stevenson Boulevard. The park features two dog areas – the 1.2-acre area is for large dogs over 14 inches tall, while the 0.02-acre area is destined for small pups measuring less than 14 inches tall. 

The park is covered in artificial grass, so you can easily visit it after rainfall without worrying about your dog getting dirty. Besides this, there’s a lot of shade, making it perfect for a hot summer day. If you need to rest while waiting for your puppy to lower its energy levels, you can sit on the benches designated for humans. After your pup’s had enough running with other furry mates, both of you can go for a walk around the lake and enjoy a relaxing and peaceful evening. 

One thing to consider is that the park usually gets pretty crowded. If your pet is shy or not accustomed to socializing with other dogs, we recommend visiting when it’s less crowded or choosing a less popular park in Fremont.

2. Alameda Creek Regional Trail

If you want to reconnect with nature by walking, jogging, or even riding your bike alongside your dog, the Alameda Creek Regional Trail should be at the top of your list! The trail goes along the banks of Alameda Creek from the Niles District of Fremont westward to San Francisco Bay. The total length of the trail is 12 miles. In Fremont, you can access the trail through Isherwood Way.

3. Newbark Dog Park

Newbark Dog Park has sandy and grassy areas that will surely entertain your dog! There are two dog areas-one for small breeds and one for medium-to-large breeds. Moreover, your pup will have a great time running through the obstacle course items. You can wait for your puppy on one of the benches. There’s no need to bring water, as there’s a water fountain in the park. 

Don’t forget about the sandy part if you’re visiting after rainfall. Your dog will want to play in the mud, so cleaning it up can take some time! Other than that, it’s no surprise that Newbark Dog Park is one of the most popular in the area!

4. Shinn Pond

If you’re fond of spending your free time near water, Shinn Pond will certainly end up at the top of your list. And, most importantly, you can take your dog with you on a picnic. Biking and fishing are also allowed. Therefore, Shinn Pond can make for an excellent weekend getaway for you, your dog, and the whole family! 

There’s lots of shade, so it can be an ideal destination for a hot summer day. If you stay long enough to catch the sunset, you’ll surely want to come back, as the view is fantastic!

5. Drigon Dog Park

A visit to Drigon Dog Park can become a fantastic evening out destination for your little furry friend. Your dog has plenty of activities to enjoy, so you can rest assured it won’t get bored! There’s an agility-designated area with lots of equipment where your pet can play and have fun with other dogs. If you’re wondering how your small pup will take it, we’ll tell you it will have a great time, as there’s a designated area for small dogs. 

You don’t have to worry about parking either. Even though Drigon Dog Park is usually crowded, many parking spots are nearby. The only inconvenience might be that the park is not located in Fremont but in Union City. It only takes around 10-15 minutes by car to get from Fremont to Drigon Dog Park.
