Sometimes animal fights in the wild are very much fights that are fought alone. After all, no animal wants to put their neck on the line for another animal. Especially when it might possibly result in their own demise. However, there are always amazing instances where another animal intervenes.

Situations such as a hippo mother protecting her young from a crocodile or a wild dog running from a lion and finding shelter behind an elephant. Or simply a friend just intervening for a friend. There are instances where for reasons we won’t always understand, an animal will decide to get in the middle of a fight for the sake of another animal.

We see such a situation in the video posted below. A domestic cat is lying on top of what looks like a picnic table outside. She is enjoying the afternoon air and likely trying to get some peace and quiet from her dog friend, who more than likely lives in the same house she does. However, this dog has made its way onto the back patio as well.

Check out the Video Below!

As the dog is roaming around looking for a friend to play with. He looks at his friend’s cat up on the picnic table. He knows better than to try and mess with her. Having probably done it before and it not ending well, this dog knows to leave her alone. Suddenly, he notices a commotion on the back of the patio.

He rushes back and, to his surprise, finds a friend who has entered their back patio. The cat has no interest and sees at three seconds in the video looking away as if to say, “Don’t touch me.” But, the dog meaning no harm, goes right up to the cat and starts to sniff it. Not liking this, the cat turns around and hisses at the dog.

Shocked, the dog draws back, and this now catches the attention of the cat sitting on the picnic table. She sees this angry cat hissing at the dog, and then the cat reaches out and claws the dog in the face. The friend cat jumps into action and charges straight to the other cat, as if she  is saying, “Pick on someone your own size.”

What is the Top #1 Dog in the World?

This is a tough question to answer emphatically because we all think our dogs are the #1 dogs in the world! And who could blame anyone because, after all, a dog is a man’s best friend?

There are 406 dog breeds known to the World Dog Federation. However, the American Kennel Club recognizes only 200 dog breeds having a much stricter standard. Out of these dog breeds, for the first time in history, the American Kennel Club has named the French Bulldog as the #1 dog breed in 2022.

The labrador retriever had been consistent in its honor of top dog for the past few years, but the French bulldog began rising through the ranks and was able to oust the popular retriever from its position.

How Large Do Domestic Cats Get?

Domestic cats vary in size because they have different genetics that determine how large they may be. There are over eight large domestic breeds of cats. The average mixed-breed cat can range in weight from 8 to 25 pounds, with some growing even larger with a weight of around 28 pounds. They can have lengths of 12 to 20 feet, not including the tail, and heights of 10 inches tall. Males tend to be larger than females. The largest breed is the Maine Coon, which can reach an average of 20 pounds and lengths of up to 40 inches.
