The old saying “work as a team” has held for thousands of years. Whether regarding sports, colleagues, family, or relationships, we have used this saying for many reasons.  This same saying can be said true in the animal kingdom.

The video posted below brings us to the Kruger National Park in South Africa. A tourist has stopped to take amazing footage of a buffalo bull running from a pride of lions. It is not long before they successfully pounce and get him stopped.

Check out the Video Below!

They get the buffalo surrounded, and then they all rush in to grab it at any angle they can. Despite the size of these lions, they are seen having difficulty getting this buffalo down. Seeing grown lions on top of this animal is quite amazing.

After a few minutes of fighting, the other lions jump in and are seen digging their claws into the back of this enormous buffalo. The male lions have even leaped onto this buffalo to help the pride take it down.

While continuing the video, the buffalo cries for help as it is now completely immobile. He is on his back with his legs in the air. The lions are sinking their enormous canine teeth into the buffalo.

This death is not a quick one. Perhaps the cruelest part about the animal kingdom happens to be the death of any animal. It is cruel, and often it is not quick. As we can see here, after nine minutes of fighting, this buffalo is still alive as it is being torn apart.

While harsh to hear, we must know all aspects of the animal kingdom, its beauty, and the cruelty it bears.

Are there Lions in Africa?

Lions can be found in Africa and Asia. There is an estimated population of 23,000-39,000 wild lions found. Because of this, their conservation status is considered vulnerable.

Out of this population, an estimated 24,000 wild lions are left in Africa.

Lion (Panthera leo) Facts

Lions are some of the most enormous cats you will find in the wild. They are 120-249 kilograms (264-550 pounds).

As carnivores, lions usually prey on antelope, warthogs, and zebras. While these animals are the most common they will prey on, as we saw in the video below, lions will also go after buffalos. But, they are smart enough to know they must work together as a team to take an animal that sizes down.
