Few things are more enjoyable than getting down on the floor and playing with your pets. No matter if they are dogs, cats, or bunnies, it brings such joy to have physical interaction with them. For this video below, let’s just say this man was playing with an animal we would never suspect!

Hyena Sighting

The Instagram reel at the top of this blog post takes us to an Instagram page that shares the best African animals like this hyena above. The African Animal channel shares incredible footage of wildlife like leopards, baby elephants, rhinos, cubs, and gorillas. What’s awesome about this page is that you can submit videos you may have on these types of animals as well!

Hyena’s Interaction With Man

This video reel comes to this page from the Max Strong Instagram handle. This man is dedicated to “Changing the way you see animals” by educating and inspiring his followers. On his page, he is pictured with numerous animals, such as a white tiger, wolf, and clouded leopards.

As the video starts, we see Max is done on the ground in some enclosure where animals are kept. Suddenly, we see a hyena come straight up to him and begin messing around him. The hyena then playfully begins to headbutt this man, and Max starts laughing.

This hyena is like a big puppy just looking for love. And he, indeed, has found a friend in this man.

Are Hyenas Friendly to People?

It isn’t easy to imagine why this would even be a question. Most of us tend to see hyenas in one light. However, this is why Max lives a dedicated life to sharing how animals genuinely are, not just what Hollywood and people who have no idea what they are writing about tell us.

Don’t get us wrong, hyenas (Crocuta crocuta) of the genus Crocuta can be vicious animals in the wild. They weigh up to 190 pounds, can run up to speeds of 35+ miles per hour, and have an incredible bite force of 1,100 PSI (pounds per square inch), making them a vicious predator to hunt for prey or fight against.

And yes, there are reports of hyenas attacking humans. However, the World Atlas reminds us that “Hyenas have been misunderstood throughout history. The truth is, they are intelligent creatures with a purpose.” As we can see from the video posted at the top in this instance, this hyena was very friendly with a man who took his time to respect this animal.
