Border Patrol runs a tight ship, and citizens who ignore its laws face severe consequences. At least, this is true of everyone except Louis Vuitton, and we’re not talking about the fashion designer. Louis, a Canadian cat who enjoys flaunting his law-breaking, routinely crosses the border. His travels take him between Surrey, British Columbia, and Blaine, Washington. He’s never been caught, but he’s become a local celebrity and even earned the respect of border patrol agents.
Meet Louis, the Law-Breaking, Border-Hopping Feline
CTV News captured footage of Louis openly defying border laws. When this fearless feline approaches Zero Avenue in Surrey, he doesn’t even hesitate before hopping the ditch that separates Canada from the U.S. While officers look on from their posted positions, Louis saunters across the invisible line that can easily turn someone from a law-abiding citizen to a criminal. Yet, he faces no charges.

Louis flaunts his sass as he crosses the border, almost as if he knows he’ll never be caught.

According to the locals, Louis has a “paws-port.” It has yet to be produced, but this bold cat lives by the honor system. What he does, exactly, when he crosses the border is a mystery. But residents claim the U.S. has some of his favorite hunting grounds, and Louis usually brings back his snacks to prove it.
Based on his frequent trips, it seems the food is better on the American side of the border. Locals are still mystified as to why Louis risks crossing the border for Vancouver’s mice, but the reason remains unknown. With no owner in sight, Louis remains a local lawbreaker, subject to no border patrol regulations—including duty taxes.
