Who knew that puppies enjoyed watching kids’ TV as much as children? This group of golden retriever puppies stops their wrestling to watch Bluey, the Australian cartoon about a blue heeler puppy. Check out the adorable video from caligoldenretrievers on TikTok.

Playful Puppies Stop to Check Out Children’s Show

The video begins with a pile of seven golden retriever puppies playfully biting and wrestling with each other. That is, until one heads over to view the big-screen TV, where Bluey is on the air. Before long, another little puppy joins, wagging its tail. In the final scene, the puppies have calmed down and are enjoying the show.

How Long Do Golden Retriever Puppies Stay With Their Moms?

Golden retrievers are known for their friendly and affectionate nature.

Like all puppies, you shouldn’t take a golden retriever puppy away from its mother until it is at least 8 weeks old, or even older. The puppies in the video appear to be getting close to the age where they could head to their new homes. However, it’s important not to rush this critical stage in a puppy’s life. The early socialization period a puppy spends with its mother and siblings is critical for its development. In fact, some experts are beginning to rethink the 8-week rule and are suggesting puppies remain with their mother and siblings until they are around 10 to 12 weeks old.

Golden Retriever Puppies Are Full of Energy!

The owner of the puppies in the video was lucky to find something to calm the pups down. Golden retriever puppies are affectionate and intelligent. However, they are also incredibly energetic and need a lot of playtime. Experts recommend starting training sessions early with your pup to help ensure your dog grows up happy and calm.

Why Do Dogs Like Bluey?

You may have heard anecdotally that dogs seem to love the Australian cartoon, Bluey. And indeed, the puppies in the TikTok video seemed to thoroughly enjoy watching the cartoon dogs. But is there any truth behind the idea that dogs love to watch Bluey?

An animal behaviorist spoke to Australia’s public news service, ABC News, about the phenomenon, explaining that dogs are not colorblind but can see grey, brown, yellow, and blue. Bluey uses a lot of those colors. Another factor that may increase a dog’s interest in shows like Bluey is that today’s TVs are in high definition. High definition images are easier for our pups to see, which may be the reason for the increased interest in watching TV among today’s dogs.
