Dinosaurs are ancient reptiles and birds that roamed the earth from the Triassic to the Cretaceous period. They lived from around 234 million years ago until around 66 million years ago, when an asteroid struck the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico and triggered a mass extinction event. The only dinosaurs that survived this event are birds, which are the only dinosaurs living today. This article explores 12 dinosaurs that start with B, including information about when and where they lived. The list only includes extinct species of dinosaurs and does not include currently living birds that start with B.

While this list highlights 12 dinosaurs that start with B, the full list includes 80 species. The end of this article includes a list of all 80 species.

They are in the Ceratopsia suborder of dinosaurs, which also includes the well-known Triceratops. Like all Ceratopsia dinosaurs, Bagaceratops was herbivorous.

3. Bambiraptor

The name Bambiraptor means “Bambi thief,” and was chosen for the Disney movie character.

Bambiraptor is a genus of dinosaurs from North America. They lived around 72 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period. There is only one known Bambiraptor fossil, discovered in Montana. It is just 3 feet long, but the fossil may be from a juvenile. Bambiraptor is estimated to have weighed less than 5 pounds. The diet of Bambiraptor is currently unknown.

The name Barapasaurus means “big-legged lizard”.

Barapasaurus is a genus of dinosaurs from India. They lived around 196-183 million years ago, during the Jurassic period. Barapasaurus measured around 40-45 feet long and weighed over 7 tons. The diet of Barapasaurus is currently unknown.

5. Barosaurus

Barosaurus is a genus of massive dinosaurs from North America. They lived around 152-150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period. Barosaurus measured around 82-89 feet long and weighed a whopping 13-22 tons. They were herbivores, using their long necks to reach for high plant matter. Beipiaosaurus is a genus of dinosaur from Asia. They lived around 125 million years ago, during the Early Cretaceous period. Beipiaosaurus measured around 7 feet long and weighed around 60 pounds. Interestingly, Beipiaosaurus is one of the heaviest feathered dinosaurs. They were mainly herbivorous.

8. Bellusaurus

The name Bellusaurus means “beautiful lizard”.

Bellusaurus is a genus of dinosaurs from Asia. They lived around 161 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period. Bellusaurus measured around 16 feet long and weighed around half a ton. They were herbivores. Most of the fossils that have been found are believed to be from juveniles.

9. Brachiosaurus

Brachiosaurus is a genus of dinosaurs from North America that were featured in the film Jurassic Park. They lived around 154-150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period. The name Brachiosaurus means “arm lizard”.

10. Brachylophosaurus

Brachylophosaurus is a genus of dinosaurs from North America. They lived from 81-76 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period. Brachylophosaurus measured around 30-36 feet long and weighed around 7.7 tons. They were herbivores. The name Brachylophosaurus means “short-crested lizard”, a reference to the bony crest on their skulls.
