Komodo Dragon at Full Speed Grabs a Wild Duck Before It Can Take Off

Whether in the wild or someone’s backyard, the hunt and kill are a very real part of every animal’s life. And in the case of the video posted below, this duck learned a lesson the hard way. 

In what looks like a field in someone’s backyard, we see a few wild ducks roaming around, seemingly without a care in the world, as if nothing can get them into their safe little haven.

Sadly mistaken, a Komodo dragon suddenly enters the fence and starts chasing these ducks around the yard. Flapping for their lives, the ducks run as fast as their little legs can get them.

Undoubtedly never having seen a Komodo dragon, it must look like a mini Godzilla to these ducks. With barely any effort, the Komodo dragon grabs one of the ducks with his teeth. He fights with the duck for a mere few seconds, holding it underwater.

After that, he walks off, dangling his meal out of his mouth. The Komodo dragon ferociously shakes his head back and forth to kill the duck in his mouth successfully. 

What Eats a Komodo Dragon?

As large as these animals are, it’s difficult to imagine Komodo dragons can be considered prey to other animals. But, as the old saying goes, “there’s always a bigger fish.” And it’s so true. 

Komodo dragons are easily the largest lizard in the world, weigh 150-300 pounds, and can reach shocking lengths of 10+ feet. These are not beasts that can easily be taken down, so it will take an animal that is willing to put up a fight. 

The Komodo dragon will be hunted, killed, and eaten by various animals, such as wild dogs, wild boars, and snakes, to name a few. 

Can Humans Survive a Komodo Bite?

As we can imagine, Komodo dragons have a ferocious bite. They have over 60 razor-sharp teeth.  And not only do they have a lot of teeth they have toxins in their saliva. So, when they bite their prey, that venom gets into the wound.

If a Komodo dragon were to bite you, yes, it could absolutely be fatal. It is said that untreated, the venom from a Komodo dragon would take a mere few hours to kill an adult human. And if not death, then a tremendous amount of pain.
