Sports are wild. They excite us and entice us. Also, they keep us healthy. When you play sports, you always learn something new about yourself or about other people. It can really show us something we never knew about ourselves.

Sports are also not always the same. There are many sports that people don’t know about. These sports on this list may surprise you. Yet, each of these sports holds something special and has a unique story to tell.

There is a lot to look at when examining the sports that start with C, and it includes looking at where the sport occurs. Additionally, it is good to check out when the sport came about and why it was created in the first place. With that said, let’s take a look at sports that start with C.

10. Camogie

Camogie is a variant of the sport Hurling and involves attempting to carry a ball into the opposition’s net.

Hurling inspired this sport. Camogie started in Ireland around the early 1900s. The main difference is that camogie uses shorter sticks. Camogie utilizes 30 total players, with 15 on each side. Overall, there is one goalie, with six players in the backfield and six in the front, along with two centers.

The Camogie Association keeps track of matches around Ireland. It also gives a detailed history of the sport while also showing some of the future of the sport. It is one of the oldest sports that starts with C.

The NFL is the main football league. But Canada has a league of their own that produces some great football. The CFL has been around since 1958. It has been a good option for players either looking to make the NFL or those who wanted to extend their careers. Some notable players who played in both leagues include Doug Flutie and Warren Moon.

The biggest difference between Canadian football and American football is the number of players. Significantly, the CFL format requires 12 players on each side. Additionally, the ball in the CFL is usually larger. The field is also larger. Canadian football has three downs instead of four. Canadian football has no fair catch rule, either. Ultimately, Canadian football is one of the most exciting sports that starts with C.

One of the toughest sports to try is canoeing. This requires you to use all your upper-body strength to row the oar back to push the boat forward. It can be tiring. Ultimately, canoeing has been around since ancient times. But it barely became a traditional Olympic sport in 1936.

It is exhausting. But it is one of the most exciting activities to partake in. Canoeing is one of the most challenging sports that start with C.

7. Chess

Chess is all about the mind; you must outmaneuver and outthink your opponent while staying several steps ahead.

Mind over matter. That is what chess is all about. The goal of chess is to move your pieces across the board and outthink your opponent. Subsequently, the main initiative is to get checkmate. Once you obtain checkmate, you have won the game. You do this by putting your opponent’s king in a spot where they cannot be saved.

Chess emerged in Europe in the 15th Century. Others believe it started much earlier. There are records of the oldest chess manual, which occurred in 840 AD.

Chess is one of the most popular board games in the world. People continue to play it to this day. There is also a website devoted to all things chess that keeps track of winners while allowing you to learn how to play.

There is nothing more thrilling than climbing a rock mountain. That is how many people feel about the sport. It is one of the most dangerous sports that starts with C because it is one where a mistake could be fatal. But it is also immensely popular.

Climbing mountains was not a popular activity until around the mid to late 1800s. Of course, humans have climbed mountains since the beginning of time. But climbing is an extreme sport. It is not one you can do side-by-side with others. Yet, it is a sport you can do to test your limits and see how far you can go.

The game of cricket partially inspired baseball, according to several reports. It utilizes a ball and a bat. You must then swing it and hit the ball as far as you possibly can. A pitcher bowls the ball toward the hitter. The batter must then try and hit the ball.

Cricket started around the 16th Century in the United Kingdom. It is one of the oldest sports on this list. Likewise, it is one of the more intriguing sports that start with C.

4. Croquet

Croquet requires hitting balls through small hoops successfully without going wide left or wide right.

This sport started around 1856. To play croquet, you need a mallet and plastic or wooden balls. The object of the game is to swing the balls through a hoop that sits on the grass. Once you have done this several times, you will have gained several points. These points will eventually help you win the match.

This is one of the newer sports on our list, as it started in 2000. It is technically an exercise workout. Yet, there are also numerous CrossFit competitions that help it stand out as a sport. Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai created CrossFit.

The purpose of CrossFit is to boost strength and conditioning. There are 10 components of physical fitness that CrossFit centers on. Flexibility and power are two of the 10 components and require the person to focus on their movement and precision. Speed, coordination, and agility are three other factors that CrossFit emphasizes. It is one of the most intense sports that starts with C.

2. Curling

Curling requires plenty of precision and expertise while sliding large stones on a sheet of ice toward the other side.

Hockey and curling both require gliding on the ice to get an object across. In this case, curling involves getting large stones across the ice. You are using one hand to hold the stone and the other to hold a curling broom. It resembles someone cleaning or sweeping the floor. But instead, you are trying to push an object forward.

Curling likely started in Scotland around the 16th century. It became an Olympic event in 1924. There are over 1.5 million people who participate in curling today. It is one of the most popular sports in the world and continues to grow today.

USA Cycling showcases the best that the US has to offer in cycling. It also encourages others to get involved while showing how to find a club or an event near you. Cycling is exciting and fun to do. It is also fun to watch. It requires so much lower-body strength and is one of the most tiring sports that is on this list. Yet, it is also one of the classic sports that will never go out of style.
