Have you ever been in a situation where you see someone who stands up in a room, and suddenly, the whole room goes quiet? Perhaps it is someone prestigious like a Queen or the President. And once they stand up, the room quiets down, and all attention goes to them.

Or perhaps it is a flare of the dramatic where a man starts to pick on another guy, only to find out when he stands up this other guy is head and shoulders taller than the other. Well, we see a situation just like this happening in this video!

Lion Sighting in Africa

The next video posted at the bottom of this blog post takes us to Africa. This video was found and shared on the Maasai Sightings YouTube page. This channel provides current footage of the happenings in wildlife and nature. We regularly see videos from the Kruger National Park and then, of course, the Maasai Mara, whom they are connected with. The Maasai Mara offers a rich history in Africa, and we see a variety of animals, such as lions, hippos, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, and cheetahs, to name a few.

Lions Vs. Pack of Hyenas

At the start of this YouTube clip shown below, we see a pack of hyenas that are circling around a male lion. This lion is taking a rest amid hyenas, which we often like to think of as jokesters in the wide-open plains of Africa. But they are always willing to take chances, test out other predators, and fight whomever they want. In this case, the hyenas seem to be contemplating whether or not they should make a move on the relaxing cat.

However, like something out of the scene of a Hollywood action-packed movie, we see this king of the jungle simply stand up in a flare of dramaticism and look back at this pack of wild animals. He didn’t need to lunge forward, go after them, or even let out a growl. His standing up was enough to make these wild hyenas think twice about messing with this beast.

What Place in Africa Has the Most Lions?

When we think of lions, our minds automatically go to two places: Africa and the Zoo. And while yes, you can take a trip to your local zoo and find a lion section, we know that lions reside in Africa. However, Africa is a huge continent. It is the second-largest in population! Africa is approximately 30.37 million square kilometers (11.7 million square miles.) To compare this to the United States, we see that the U.S. is about 3.80 million square miles. So, we see that Africa is almost 10 times bigger than that of the U.S.

Needless to say, Africa is huge. There are estimated to be up to be between 20,000-39,000 lions left in Africa. This would consider their conservation status to be vulnerable. Out of this huge continent, we have found that Tanzania holds the most, at about 8,000 lions in one area.
