When we get invited to a family dinner, what is the point? Well, food is the main one. We all have to eat, right? Well, being invited to a dinner is enticing us to come because of the food, but also a major goal is getting people together.

Much in the same way for animals, a body of water will do this. Water is the lifeline for animals, and we will see so many different kinds of animals come to the water and oftentimes interact with one another because they have a common reason – the water.

At the start of the video below, we see that Stephen Russell of the BamaBass team built a five-acre pond in Alabama in February 2022. Initially, they were excited about all the fish that would be present. However, as they built the pond, they noticed that a lot more wildlife was coming out of the woodwork, as seen in this footage.

Watch the Video Below!

BamaBass was able to set up night vision cameras and capture the wildlife that would gather around the pond and interact with one another. After all, water is a great place for all animals to be able to come to. And not just for hydration but also for allowing them to cool off, hunt other animals, and forage for food. We see animals such as foxes, geese, bald eagles, coyotes, deer, and other birds attracted to the pond. If you pause the video at 3:31, we can see amazing footage of several deer lying down close to one another by the pond. Thanks to the night vision cameras, they were able to share this experience with us.

The BamaBass YouTube page has received more than 174 million views across its videos. The channel is dedicated to “building ponds and raising pet bass at our farm in Sweet Home Alabama!”

How Many Deer Live in Alabama?

Deer (Odocoileus virginiana) of the family Cervidae reside in Asia, Eurasia, Europe, and North America. There are considered to be so many deer that their population status with exact numbers is not known. However, their conservation status is not extinct.

Alabama has a plethora of deer in the state. There were estimated to be about 1.5 million in 2021, and each year, it seems to grow! So, it is no wonder plenty of deer gathered around the new pond in the video.
