Fearless Bear Fights For His Life Against a Pack of Hunting Dogs

When we look at bears such as the famous grizzly bear or the great American black bear, it’s difficult to imagine they could ever have any fear. However, these massive animals are often solitary creatures. And because of this, they are susceptible to the threats that predators who work in groups or herds cause. Don’t miss the incredible fight this grizzly bear put up against a pack of hunting dogs in the video above. 

Hunting Dogs Find Massive Grizzly Bear

The YouTube video posted at the top of this blog post takes us to Russia. This is where some hunting dogs search for roe deer and instead come across a massive grizzly bear. The Hunting World YouTube page filmed and shared this video on their channel. The man who runs this page loves to share his hunts with bears, elk, and roe deer. 

Grizzly Bear Stands Up To Attack

At the video’s start, we see an aerial view of a pack of hunting dogs coming in hot as they were able to sniff out this giant grizzly bear. According to the Veterinary Centers for America, hunting dogs “have keen noses that detect the presence of game and track the scent.” 

They immediately use their trained skills and begin to surround the bear from all angles. The first dog goes in for the attack. However, this grizzly is a formidable opponent and sends the dog smashing to the snowy ground. The others quickly rally around, and they take their turns charging at the bear. 

But, by the end of the video, we see all five dogs are hesitant to attack the bear. They know that even though they have the numbers, grizzles are used to surviving and fighting solo. 

What Animals Can Kill Bears?

Along with the grizzly bear, otherwise known as the brown bear (Ursus arctos) and American black bear (Ursus americanus), there are six other species. They are the polar bear (Ursus maritimus), Asian black bear (Ursus thibetanus), Asiatic black bear (Ursus thibetanus), Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus), panda bear (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), sloth bear (Melursus ursinus), and sun bear (Ursus malayanus).  

All of these powerful bears range in size from the smallest, the sun bear weighing only 130 pounds, to the mighty polar bear, which is the largest at 1,500 pounds. With great sizes like these, few predators are willing to face them one-on-one. 

However, solitary animals such as tigers, cougars, and coyotes are willing to brave such fights. And wolves who hunt in packs, typically 6-7 members, can also take down a bear in a fight. And from the video above, we see that even five hunting dogs, whose sole job is to take down prey, were not even successful in taking this fierce grizzly down.
