Lose the “I”

Thanks for the great article on growing strawberries in Arizona. Just wanted to make you aware of a correction that most Arizonans will appreciate, especially us native ones. In your last sentence, you urge “Arizonians” to go grow strawberries.

FYI, those of us who are native to Arizona prefer to be called “Arizonans,” not Arizonians. You can tell a transplant by whether they refer to Nebraskans as “Nebraskians,, much like we can tell snow birds and transplants from other states who refer to us Arizonans as “Arizonians.”

We would appreciate it if you could make that correction. Thank you again for a very good article. — Tim C.

Dear Tim, we have made the correction and wish you and all Arizonans the very best!

When referring to people who live in Arizona, they are called “Arizonans,” not “Arizonians.”

There’s an Easier Way!

Hi, there is a much easier way to keep ants out of the hummingbird feeder (referring to “7 Effective and Natural Ways to Keep Ants Out of Your Hummingbird Feeder“). Simply cover about a 1-inch section of the arm holding the feeder with a coating of Vaseline. The ants will not cross it. It only has to be done once a year and you’re done. — Jeff

Slather a coating of petroleum jelly on the arm from which your hummingbird feeder hangs, and the ants will never bother it again.

What’s the Difference?

I enjoyed your description of the differences between the caribou and moose. Now I feel confident I could tell the difference. — Lisa
