These magical animals are a lot of fun to name! You can name them after your favorite book or movie character based on your beardies’ personality or their appearance. Male

  • Harry Potter: You can simplify it to just Harry or Potter. 
  • Ron: This name might not sound very fantastical, but he’s a main and unforgettable character!
  • Draco Malfoy: Does your bearded dragon seem like a Slytherin? Either Draco or Malfoy could work.
  • Dobby: This name is adorable. Does your beaded dragon remind you of Dobby?
  • Dumbledore: You’re probably a huge Harry Potter fan if you name your beardie after Professor Dumbledore.
  • Hagrid: This name is perfect for old bearded dragons, even better if you have another Harry Potter-named pet.
  • Severus Snape: Either name could be used! Snape is also a lot of fun to say.

Male

  • Haku: Have you ever seen the film, “Spirited Away”? Haku is an important character and a great name for your beardie. This is perfect if you love Studio Ghibli films.
  • Godzilla: This name doesn’t need a lot of explanation. It’s a cool name for a cool beaded dragon.
  • Charmander: Do you love Pokemon? Is your reptilian friend fiery? You might want to try Charmander.
  • Mushu: Mushi is the dragon from the Mulan films. He’s sassy but has a kind heart.
  • Dragon: Technically, Dragon is the name of many characters and also refers to the general creature. This is a bit on the nose, but why not?

  • Raya: While Raya herself isn’t a dragon, she’s fierce and is joined by Sisu, another name on this list.
  • Charm: A short nickname for Charmander. You can also call your beardie “Char.”
  • Sisu: A stunning dragon from the Disney film “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
  • Aurora: Aurora is also known as sleeping beauty. You can name your beardie after this beloved princess because she sleeps a lot.
  • Narissa: Queen Narissa is a character in Disney’s film “Enchanted”. She can turn into a dragon.
  • Madam Mim: A character in “The Sword in the Stone” released in 1963. She’s a trickster.

  • Blaze: An excellent name for bearded dragons with fiery personalities and attitudes. 
  • Forest: This lovely nature-based name is easy to use and remember.
  • Fire: If Blaze is too subtle, try naming your beardie Fire. Sometimes, obvious names are a lot of fun.
  • Cypress: Does your beardie like Cypress wood?
  • Bear: For bearded dragons that act more like bears than reptiles.

  • Fir: If you don’t want to use Forest or Cypress, but you like the idea of naming your beardie after a tree, try Fir.

  • Galaxy: A fun space-themed name!
  • Gem: If the name Emerald is too specific, you can simply use the name Gem. Your bearded dragon is the Gem of your eye.
  • Crystal: A similar, but more popular name than Gem.
  • Rush: For bearded dragons in a constant rush. This nature-based name is inspired by rushing rivers and waterfalls.
  • Fern: Can also be used by male bearded dragons.
  • Breeze: A great name for beardies that like to feel the wind in their skin.
