For some, talking to animals is the stuff of fairy tales, cartoons, or quirky movies starring Eddie Murphy. But for Val Heart, animal communication is a real and profound ability — one that can transform both human and animal lives.
As an internationally recognized animal communicator, Val has spent decades helping people connect with their pets on a deeper level. Her journey, methods, and experiences defy conventional wisdom, but as she says, “We are all animals; humans are animals!” And in her view, animals are not only our companions but also our soulmates, teachers, and guides.
Have you ever wondered what your pet is thinking? Here’s your chance to learn how to crack the code of animal communication — no magic wand needed!

“I didn’t start out to be a professional animal communicator or healer. It kind of found me,” says animal communicator Val Heart.

Understanding Animal Communication
Animal communication, according to Val, is not just about hearing what an animal has to say. It’s a two-way street that involves listening with the heart, mind, and soul. “They are deeply intelligent, feeling beings,” she explains. “I think of them as God’s gifts on loan to us.”
She believes that we share soul contracts with our pets and that their presence in our lives is no accident. Whether they come to us for companionship, protection, or healing, there is always a purpose behind their existence. “When we take the time to really listen — to communicate with them, heart to heart, soul to soul, and mind to mind — we open the door to an incredible transformation in our own lives,” she tells us.
Val’s approach, the Heart Wisdom Method™, goes beyond mere communication; it is a spiritual journey that fosters personal growth. “To truly hear animals clearly, we have to do our own healing work,” she emphasizes. “If we don’t, we wind up filtering their messages through our wounds.”

“The method I teach, the Heart Wisdom Method™, isn’t just about learning how to talk to animals. It is a spiritual journey that makes us better people,” explains Val.

A Horse, a Healer, and a Life-Changing Revelation
Val did not set out to be an animal communicator. In fact, her path into this field began quite unexpectedly in 1993. She recalls a defining moment with Valkyrie, a Black Beauty Percheron mare with a large, unhealed knot on her hip. Despite veterinary and bodywork interventions, nothing seemed to work.
“In a moment of inspiration — or perhaps desperation — I tried something I hadn’t before. I just opened my heart and listened to her,” Val recounts. “I heard her tell me her story. And at that moment, something clicked. I received a clear, undeniable message that turned everything around. We watched in amazement as the knot on her hip healed right before our eyes. It simply disappeared.”
That experience propelled her into a lifelong journey of animal communication and healing. “They say, ‘the issues are in the tissues,’” she says. “If we don’t deal with the underlying emotional, energetic, spiritual, or mental wound, healing can’t happen.”
Since that fateful day, Val has helped thousands of animals and their humans across the globe.

Talking with Animals 101: How to Tune In to Your Pet
One of the most common questions Val receives is: How do you know if you’re actually hearing an animal or just imagining things? The key, she says, lies in the feeling of genuine connection.
“Animal communication happens through the heart. It’s energetic; it’s a soul-to-soul connection. It’s telepathic. It’s feeling-based — not so much head or imagination or mental chatter-based,” she explains. “Genuine messages are often simple, emotionally resonant, and come with a sense of clarity.”
For those interested in developing their own abilities, Val suggests practicing with animals other than their own first. “It’s hardest to do with our own pets because we’re too close to them; we’re not objective. There’s a blank canvas with an animal you’ve never met and don’t know.”
Val also teaches that there are more intuitive abilities beyond the commonly known four: clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance, and clairsentience. “I’ve counted around 50, and I keep finding new ones,” she shares. “That’s where animals live. That’s how they send energy, messages, imagery, and sensations. That’s how they communicate — through feelings, intuition, and energy.”
When Miracles Happen: Astonishing Cases of Animal Healing
Skeptics may roll their eyes at the idea of telepathic animal conversations, but Val has seen enough evidence to know otherwise. She recalls a case with a dog named Teddy, whose owner was considering surgery for a large, hard tumor.
“I connected with Teddy using the Heart Wisdom Method™,” she says. “By the end of our session, this large lump had completely changed. It went from being hard and large to soft and squishy — and then almost unnoticeable. Her owner’s husband kept checking and saying, ‘I can’t find it anymore. It’s gone.’”
Then there was Babys, a lorikeet who had suffered an accident and lost his vision. The vet recommended euthanasia, but his owner sought Val’s help instead. “One of the things I teach and do is an intuitive X-ray, kind of an energy scan,” says Val. “I saw he’d suffered what felt and looked like a stroke to me. I also found that his spine was out of alignment, so I shifted that. By the end of class, he had regained his vision, was happily exploring his new space, and was beginning to play and eat normally.” Babys went on to make a full recovery, stunning even the most cynical observers.
“I don’t want to offer false expectations here. I can’t always promise a miracle,” Val says with a chuckle, “but I’m starting to become known for them.”

“Animals mirror us just like we mirror them,” Val shares. “We act out stress. They can act out our unhealed pain, wounds, limiting beliefs or attitudes, and we can do that for them, too.”

Skeptics Welcome: A Logical Look at Intuitive Animal Communication
Val welcomes skeptics with open arms. “I used to be one myself,” she admits. “I’m not here to convince anyone. My job is to invite curiosity and openness.”
She shares the story of a client desperate for help with his misbehaving cat. “After the session, he was stunned. I told him things only he and the cat knew — something he’d never told anyone else. And the cat’s behavior shifted entirely.”
Her approach? “Observe. Witness. Give it a go. If you want, try it. If you don’t, that’s fine too. I’m not here to convince anyone to be a believer. You either are open to it, or you’re not, and that’s okay.”
Beyond the Rainbow Bridge: Do Animals Speak from the Afterlife?
For those grieving lost pets, Val offers comfort in the belief that the soul never dies. “Animals are eternal souls, just like we are. The death of the body is not the death of the spirit.”
Many pet owners report signs that their departed animals are still around — feeling their presence, hearing their collar jingle, or even smelling their scent. “When my cat, TuffyTiger, passed, I felt the bed move, like she had just jumped up,” Val says of one of her own experiences.
She also teaches people how to consciously communicate with their pets across the veil. “You don’t have to wait a certain amount of time before you can communicate with them. The bonds we share don’t end with the death of the body.”

“Sometimes their communication is even stronger within the spirit,” Val says of animals who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

It’s Your Turn
For those interested in exploring animal communication, Val offers resources through her The Heart School of Animal Communication® and Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club®. “I have a free e-book on my website,” she shares. “It’s a really good place to begin.”
Ultimately, Val believes that understanding animals is not just about learning their language, it’s about becoming better humans. If we truly listen, we open ourselves to a level of wisdom, love, and transformation we never thought possible. And that’s the real gift.
