When animals in the wild are faced with the danger of an oncoming predator, they can prepare and fight for their lives. Or, in some instances, to take off running to try and escape their impending doom. However, now and then, a situation occurs where the prey does not see the predator coming straight on. Sometimes, the predator is hiding in such a way that the prey doesn’t know until it is too late.

Check Out the Incredible Video Below!

In the instance of this YouTube video shown below, we see a zebra did not realize it was being hunted until it was too late. As we can imagine, what lurks in the waters of Africa can be animals such as crocodiles and hippopotamuses. This crocodile was hunting this zebra with such stealth this zebra didn’t even know it was in danger. The Maasai Sightings describe what happened in this short video below.

“Crocodiles hunt by stealthily stalking their prey from water. Some species ambush their prey as they drink from the water’s edge or bath. Many species can kill and eat large mammals such as zebras, wildebeests, and humans. Once it has caught its prey, a crocodile will then drag it into the water and drown it.”

A small group of zebras have the dangerous mission to cross this body of water. And while it looked safe, looks can be deceiving. Suddenly, about halfway through this body of water, the lead zebra notices a crocodile emerge from the water. He is looking for which is the weakest for him to grab. He goes for the smallest one in the pack. And the smallest zebra will always be the weakest. It can’t fight back like the full-grown adults do.

As the crocodile drags the zebra beneath the water to drown this animal, we see another predator emerge. A hippopotamus is standing nearby. He is waiting to see if there will be any leftovers for him.

What do Crocodiles Eat?

Crocodiles are large reptiles that can be found in Asia, Central America, North America, and South America. Of course, they can most famously be found in Africa, as seen in the video below.

As carnivores, crocodiles will enjoy eating small things such as fish and crustaceans. However, as we can imagine, they also eat larger prey such as deer and buffalo.
