Let’s Talk Chickens! A Fun, Free Lesson Plan Packed With Activities

Chickens are intelligent, curious, well-known animals that live all over the world on farms, in backyards, and even in the wild in rural areas. A part of the bird animal classification group, birds have waterproof, insulating feathers, strong wings for short bursts of flapping, and sharp talons for perching and scratching. Chickens are highly valued for their contributions to pest control and sustainable farming practices, and for providing eggs and meat for humans.

In our five-day educational unit plan, children can delve deeper into discovering more about the physical characteristics of chickens and their unique behaviors, where they live, their omnivorous diets, and their life cycle. Included in the unit plan are five days’ worth of engaging daily lesson plans, specifically designed for elementary-aged students, printable activities, instructional resources, vocabulary worksheets, graphic organizers, comprehension questions, and research ideas!
