Learn All About the World of Octopuses in Our Free Downloadable Lesson Plan

Octopuses are highly intelligent, color-changing marine animals, sparking conversations among biologists due to their elusive, shape-shifting nature and fascinating problem-solving skills. Belonging to the mollusk group of invertebrates, octopuses have no bones, which gives them incredible flexibility to squeeze into ultra-small spaces. Found in oceans all over the world, there are over 300 species of octopuses, each with unique features to aid in survival in their diverse ecosystems.

Octopus cyanea found in the both Indian and Pacific ocean. It grows to 16 cm in mantle length with arms to atleast 80 cm.

In our kid-friendly unit plan, designed specifically for elementary-aged children, students will have the opportunity to dive deeper into the remarkable world of octopuses, learning more about their physical characteristics, where octopuses live, what they eat, their defense mechanisms, and the different species.
