In Albuquerque, there are a variety of dog parks for you to choose from, but not all of them are created equal. In this article you will learn 7 of the best dog parks in Albuquerque, and what makes each one unique.

It is common for poop bags, and water to be supplied in these parks, but it is always best to bring your own. 1. USS Bullhead Park Dog Park

USS Bullhead dog park is located in the southeast area of Albuquerque and is an open off-leash area to take your dog to have some fun. Two areas are fenced off in this park, and one is for smaller dogs to play. Being such a large area, this dog park has plenty of room for the largest breeds to play. Benches, poop bags, and water are all found in this park for you to use. 

Along with the dog parks, there are also other amenities to enjoy in USS Bullhead park. Sports fields and a playground are also found nearby. There is plenty of room to let your dog run and play, but they must be on a leash when not in the dog park. This dog park is located near the area of Siesta Hills Albuquerque, and it is a great place to exercise your pooch. It is regularly visited by friendly residents and pooches. 

2. Kirtland Dog Park

One of the newer dog parks in Albuquerque, Kirtland dog park, first opened in 2018. This dog park is a large open space for dogs to roam free. This simple dog park has dirt and gravel surfacing. There are brick walls for dogs to jump over and test their agility. Kirtland dog park is a medium-sized space for all breeds to enjoy. 

On hot days, this dog park is best avoided since there is little shade and only a few small trees in the dog park. For sitting, benches with canopies are spread about to watch your pooch play. Poop bags and trash cans are provided to help clean up after your pup. Although if your dog gets thirsty, water is not available, so you must bring your own with a bowl. 

3. Ouray Dog Park

Ouray dog park is an off-leash area located in northwest Albuquerque. A huge area for your pooch to play, the dog park is separated into two areas. One section is for larger dogs, with the other area for smaller breeds. Wood chips and dirt is the surface of the park. Poop bags and water are provided, and there is even a kiddie pool if your pup likes to get its paws wet. 

Ouray dog park is one of the best dog parks in Albuquerque for active dogs, not only because of its size but also the agility courses in the park. Agility tunnels, ramps, and steps are at this dog park for your pup to use. While shade is not abundant at this dog park, there is seating spread around so you can watch your pup play. Poop bags and water are also at hand for your convenience. 

4. Rio Grande Triangle Dog Park

Rio Grande Triangle dog park is a small off-leash area, great for exercising your pooch. Simple in design, the dog park has a separate fenced-off area for smaller breeds to play. Turf makes up some of the surfacings, but some are also woodchips and dirt. Plenty of space is available for your dog, and the other friendly pooches that regularly visit to run free. 

This dog park has rules similar to other dog parks like:

  • Owners are responsible for their own dog.
  • All dogs visiting must be vaccinated and licensed.
  • No more than 3 dogs per person.
  • Obedience training is required before taking your dog to this park.
  • Dogs showing aggressive behavior must be removed. 
  • Owners must clean up after their pet.

Rio Grande Triangle dog park is not the largest of off-leash areas in Albuquerque, but it is well maintained and kept clean. A drinking fountain is available at this dog park, with plenty of seating for relaxing. 

5. Skyline Dog Park

Skyline dog park provides plenty of space to exercise your pooch. This dog park is one large area for breeds of all sizes. Fully fenced off, Skyline dog park has a hilly terrain with dirt and grass surfacing. Large trees are found around the park that provides plenty of shade. Only two benches are located in this dog park, so you may want to bring your own chairs. 

Water is provided for when your dog gets thirsty, as well as poop bags and trash cans to use. Despite being so large, the park is fully fenced off with a double-gated entrance to prevent escapes. This dog park is not the fanciest, but it is one of the more open and spacious dog parks in Albuquerque. Any dog will love to frolic at Skyline dog park, but parking can be difficult to find. 

6. Santa Fe Village Dog Park

Santa Fe Village dog park is large and open, with a separate area for smaller breeds. Other dogs are always present for socialization, but it gets most busy during the evening hours. If your dog likes to run, or play fetch it will definitely enjoy a visit, as the park is very long. Cleanliness is not an issue, and poop bag stations allow you to pick up after your dog if you forgot to bring your own bags.

Large trees are spread here and there that give shade to get out of the sun. If you enjoy sitting while letting your dog go wild, benches are also in the area. Santa Fe Village dog park is open, with wood chips and dirt surfacing. The ground is easy on your dog’s paws but may get them a little dirty after playing. 

7. North Domingo Baca Dog Park

North Domingo Baca dog park is a large area in the hills of New Mexico, dedicated to letting your pooch run off-leash. This dog park is large and open, with a separate area for smaller dogs to play. The ground is covered in wood chips, with trees and benches spread around the park. Being open till 10 PM, this dog park is equipped with street lights to help keep the area lit when it gets dark. 

Trash cans, poop bags, and water are located in the park to help you take care of your pup while visiting. In the winter the water is sometimes shut off to prevent freezing, so it is always best to have a water bottle on hand. The open space of this dog park makes it a great place to exercise and play with your pooch. Free tennis balls are also available if your dog enjoys fetching. 

North Domingo Baca dog park is a fun off-leash area to visit in Albuquerque, and there are also other amenities to enjoy in the park nearby. Playgrounds, walking paths, tennis courts, ping pong tables, and other amenities are also available in the area.
