10. Arizona — Average 51.4 °F

The first state on the list is Arizona which has an average November temperature of 51.4 °F. The temperatures tend to be higher in the western region of the state with an average high of 77.6 °F in Parker and 77.7 °F in Yuma. However, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the state was a blistering 128 °F which was recorded in June 1994 at Hawley Lake.

Arizona is well-known for its four deserts, the largest of which is the Sonoran Desert which spans much of the southern region. However, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state is the Grand Canyon which is 277 miles long and was formed by the Colorado River.

9. California — Average 51.6 °F

The next warmest state in November is California which has an average temperature of 51.6 °F. The highest average temperatures are recorded in Stockton and Watsonville which are 66.6 °F and 67.1 °F respectively.

California is located on the west coast and is famous for its stunning beaches and notable landmarks which include the Hollywood Sign and the Golden Gate Bridge. As of January 2023, California has a population of 38.9 million people. It’s also home to a diverse range of animals, including the critically endangered California condor.

8. Mississippi — Average 53.4 °F

Located in the southeastern region, Mississippi has a largely subtropical climate and has an average November temperature of 53.4 °F. However, some areas — such as Hernando — can see record highs of around 88 °F. The Mississippi River is one of the best-known features of the state and is located along the western edge. It is 2,350 miles long and the second-longest river in the US.

7. Alabama — Average 53.4 °F

Also in the southeast and with an average temperature of 53.4 °F is Alabama. The highest temperatures occur in the south, with Fairhope having a record November high of 94 °F and Montgomery achieving 91 °F. Alabama typically has hot summers and relatively mild winters, although the northern region is colder than the south, particularly near the mountains.

Alabama has a diverse range of habitats which leads to it being home to a wide variety of native animals. These include the endangered Alabama red-bellied turtle, which is also the state reptile.

6. South Carolina — Average 54.2 °F

The next warmest state in November is South Carolina which has a slightly higher temperature of 54.2 °F. Once again, the coastal region is the warmest due to its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Sullivan’s Island, in particular, has a record high of 89 °F for November.

South Carolina has three distinctive regions — the coastal plain, Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. There’s an incredibly diverse range of animals that live in the state. White-tailed deer are the state animal and occur right across the state. However, it’s also home to endangered animals such as bog turtles and loggerhead sea turtles.

5. Georgia — Average 55.3 °F

An average temperature of 55.3 °F puts Georgia as the next state on the list. However, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the state was 112 °F which occurred in both July 1952 and August 1983. November temperatures are typically much cooler, although some southern cities have record highs in the low nineties.

Georgia is currently the eighth-most populous state in the US with a population of 10.8 million. The state has numerous scenic attractions, and one of the most popular areas of natural beauty is the breathtaking Amicalola Falls which is a mighty 729 feet high.

4. Texas — Average 55.4 °F

An average of 55.4 °F means that Texas takes the position as the next warmest state in November on the list. However, it’s not unusual to see highs of 80 °F in several southern cities. The northern region is typically colder, but areas near the Gulf Coast have relatively mild winters.

As the second-largest state in the US, Texas spans a vast area. It forms part of the Great Plains and is home to a variety of different species, including around 200 species of reptiles.

3. Louisiana — Average 57.2 °F

Taking the third spot is Louisiana with an average of 57.2 °F for the month. However, highs of 73 °F often occur in November as the state typically has hot and humid summers and mild winters.

Louisiana has a diverse range of habitats, including numerous wetland areas. Many of these were formed by the Mississippi River and support a wide variety of both plant and animal species. Alligators — also recognized as the state animal — are particularly abundant and there are more than two million of them in the state. The largest ever caught in the state was 19 feet 2 inches, although there have also been sightings of alligators around 20 feet long.

2. Florida — Average 67.1 °F

The warmest contiguous state in November is Florida with an average temperature of 67.1 °F. However, November does still see significantly higher temperatures, with temperatures of more than 80 °F recorded in places such as Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Florida is a popular tourist destination due to its year-round warm temperatures and numerous popular beaches. There are plenty of things to do in Florida, including boat trips, snorkeling, and scuba diving. There are also fascinating places to visit, such as the Everglades and the Florida Caverns.

1. Hawaii — Average 73.6 °F

Although not part of the contiguous United States, Hawaii is the warmest state in November with an average temperature of 73.6 °F. Hawaii has a humid tropical climate and has warm temperatures all year round. In fact, it has a difference of around only nine degrees between the annual average high and low temperatures.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state was 100 °F which was recorded in Pāhala in April 1931. Hawaii has 137 islands and is around 2,400 miles from the US mainland. The islands are home to a variety of animals, many of which are endemic. These include the Hawaiian hoary bat and the Hawaiian monk seal.
