Camouflage is an exciting animal adaptation that allows many different types of animals to blend in with their surroundings. The chameleon is one of the most recognizable animals that camouflages itself, changing its colors in order to hide from predators.

This free downloadable lesson plan explores various species of animals that camouflage and dives deeper into how and why animals utilize this unique survival strategy. Included in the downloadable plan are five days’ worth of camouflage lessons (animals that camouflage, why animals camouflage, and how animals camouflage), graphic organizers, writing piece ideas, reading comprehension passages/questions, a mini unit assessment and more!
