Pigs are incredibly intelligent animals. They enjoy spending time with their humans and genuinely love them, sharing deep bonds. These social animals will actively seek out interaction from their humans, show enjoyment by wagging their tails, rolling over to have belly rubs, or even grunting to communicate.
One pig, Dixon, takes his desire for interaction to the next level. He loves his night-night songs and even sings along with them. His toothy smile is infectious, even if he might need an orthodontist. Dixon the pig is one of the newest additions to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary. Despite his 11 years on the planet, Dixon still greets each day with enthusiasm, which is why he became a sanctuary favorite even before becoming a permanent resident on the farm.
Dixon the Pig Loves His Good Night Songs

Dixon the pig has become a social media phenomenon. Thanks to his toothy smile and gentle nature, people flock to both Instagram and Facebook to see Dixon’s daily adventures. One of the highlights of the day is when Dixon participates in the “Daily Dixon Duet” or the “Piggy Night Night” song at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary with its founder and president, Kay Williams. While Williams does not claim to be a singer—at times even calling her singing “atrocious”—Dixon loves it and is happy to participate before going to bed.
In a recent Instagram post, Williams and Dixon sing a version of the song, “I Love You, You Love Me.” While the lyrics are more farm and Dixon-specific than the original song, Dixon enjoys the duet immensely. This is evident in his participation and tail-wagging to the song.
“I love you, you love me. I’m so glad you are part of the family,” Williams sings on Instagram. “With a kiss kiss here and I love you every day, I’m gonna bring a Fig Newton your way.”
Dixon gets a new song regularly. While some are better than others (by Williams’ admission), Dixon enjoys them all.
Why Dixon’s Teeth Look Filed Down

The first thing that fans of Dixon see is his toothy smile. It is part of what makes the potbelly pig so endearing. However, what is also noticeable is that Dixon’s teeth appear to be filed down. This has led some to ask why the chompers look the way they do.
“Dumb question, I know, but why do his teeth look like they have been sawed off in the middle or something?” a follower of Frog Song Farm Sanctuary asks on Facebook. “They all look flat, not pointed AT ALL. Sorry for my ignorance, and he has the most beautiful smile EVERRRRR, but just wondering.”
Because not a lot is known about Dixon’s early life before he was transported to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, many questions about him remain unanswered. One of those questions is what happened to Dixon’s teeth.
“We don’t know. The vet who saw him before he got here said she didn’t do anything with them,” Frog Song Farm Sanctuary replies to the follower on Facebook. “Whether they were filed down at one point, or this is just him, is unknown.”
Despite Dixon’s sunny disposition at the sanctuary, he experienced grief and loss before his arrival that shook him to his core. Because the situation was so traumatic, it was unclear at the time of his rescue how long it would take Dixon to recover emotionally, or if he ever would.
Dixon’s Heartbreaking Backstory

Dixon may be a happy, song-loving pig today, but just in the summer of 2025, Dixon experienced one of the most devastating times of his life. Dixon lived with one man his entire life. His owner, however, was a hoarder. While the two did not live in the healthiest or cleanest conditions, Dixon was cared for and loved. According to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, this is evident by the extent to which Dixon enjoys being around and interacting with people.
Unfortunately, in July 2025, Dixon’s owner passed away. When this happened, Dixon was left in the home with the man who loved him for several days. This time, according to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, took a toll on poor Dixon.
“Dixon stayed in that home for days,” Frog Song Farm Sanctuary explains in a Facebook post, “confused and mourning —alone, grieving, surrounded by the clutter and silence of a life that’s ended.”
The grief caused Dixon to lose a significant amount of weight, becoming severely underweight, and he was saddened by the loss of the only caretaker he had ever known. After a vet examination, Dixon needed his severely overgrown hooves trimmed, his one remaining tusk trimmed (the sanctuary does not know what happened to the other tusk), and treatment for dry, cracked skin and mites. Dixon also required castration before he could come to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary.
Thanks to the help of the sanctuary’s community and others in the animal rescue world, Dixon was taken into foster care almost immediately. He received veterinary care quickly, and after his castration was complete, Dixon was on his way to his forever home at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary.
Dixon’s Diet Puts Most People’s to Shame

When Dixon arrived at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, he was accustomed to eating only human food. Additionally, the bulk of that food was not the most nutritious. Consequently, when he was offered pig food, Dixon would not touch it. That was when the idea of “health bowls” was born.
The reason Frog Song Farm Sanctuary could not wait to see if Dixon would gradually come around and eat pig food is that, before Dixon went to the sanctuary, he had lost a significant amount of weight. He was only 80 to 90 pounds when he arrived, which is significantly less than what a potbelly pig of his size should weigh. The sanctuary could not risk Dixon losing any more weight.
The “health bowls” are a mixture of produce, kefir, and whole-grain cereal. An example of a meal prepared for Dixon that he ate with gusto was “honey nut Cheerios soaked in whole milk kefir with fresh blueberries and spinach.” This may be healthier than what Dixon has been used to, but in every Facebook post, Dixon gets every last bit of his meal consumed before taking a post-meal nap.
Dixon Is Loving His New Life at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary

Dixon has become a celebrity at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary. While this initially had a lot to do with his toothy smile, it is Dixon’s resilience and love for life that have endeared him to so many.
According to Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, Dixon believes he is the “happiest pig on earth.” This zest for life and willingness to trust people, despite having endured such loss, speak volumes about Dixon’s upbeat personality. He loves his belly rubs, enjoys his nighttime lullabies, and likes being around the other animals at the sanctuary, whether he’s sleeping or exploring the property.
Dixon still has some time before he is fully recovered, but given how little time he has been at Frog Song Farm Sanctuary, he has settled in effortlessly. Each day is a gift to the pig, and Dixon chooses to enjoy every moment of it.
