There are big dogs like Mastiffs, and then there is the Bully Kutta, in a category of its own. This powerful dog isn’t for your average home or family. The Bully Kutta originates in Pakistan and India and translates to “heavily wrinkled dog” in Hindi and Urdu.

Bully Kuttas are large working dogs with a muscular build. They weigh over 170 pounds and can stand around 36 inches tall. These dogs are independent and highly protective. They are natural guard dogs and are not usually fond of strangers or other animals. The breed dates back to the 16th century, in Pakistan and India. Bully Kuttas were historically popular for fighting, hunting, and security.

Today’s Bully Kutta requires an experienced owner who understands how to manage the aggressive tendencies of the breed. With proper training, the breed is extremely loyal and affectionate with its family. However, its guard dog nature will always be there.

If you feel this is the right breed for your needs, here’s what to know about Bully Kutta prices

Finding a reputable Bully Kutta breeder can be a challenge. The breed is not common in the United States and it isn’t recognized by the American Kennel Club. However, in India, the breed is more available and the price is on the lower end. The Bully Kutta can cost as low as $300, reaching as high as approximately $1500.

Other Factors That Influence the Purchase Price of a Bully Kutta

Lineage and breeding may factor into the cost of a Bully Kutta. For example, dogs with well-known bloodlines bred from reputable breeders will cost more. Since the breed is more common in India and Pakistan, they won’t cost as much there as buying a Bully Kutta in the United States might. Finding a reputable breeder in the United States may also be a challenge.

Cost of Vaccination and Other Medical Expenses for a Bully Kutta

No matter what type of dog breed you choose, the series of vaccinations and basic medical expenses required for the first year of your pup’s life will be the same. Puppies should get a core series of shots called DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, and parainfluenza). Veterinarians charge a range of prices for these vaccines. But the group of shots averages around $75 to $100, according to the American Kennel Club.

Additionally, puppies will need a rabies vaccine, which averages around $15 to $20. Once a dog is fully grown, expect to pay for a rabies vaccine and DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) every one to three years. This costs about the same, $75, as a puppy’s core shots.

You should also be aware of the health concerns that affect the breed. Bully Kuttas may be prone to certain conditions that other large breeds are also susceptible to. This includes hip dysplasia and arthritis. Regular vet visits for ongoing health conditions can cost hundreds of dollars per visit.

Cost of Food and Supplies for a Bully Kutta

Since the Bully Kutta is such a large dog, expect to pay much more for food than you would for a smaller breed. For example, premium dry kibble, enough for a medium-size dog at around 55 pounds, may cost anywhere from around $300 to over $800 per year. When you factor in that the Bully Kutta is nearly four times that size, you can assume you’re going to be paying on the higher end to feed the enormous breed.

That’s just for daily kibble, and it doesn’t factor in extras like special diets or treats.

How Much Does It Cost to Insure a Bully Kutta?

In the United States, owners of Bully breeds may be required to have liability insurance in some cities or states. Therefore, owning a Bully Kutta is likely to cost you more in insurance than it would for other breeds. As a starting point, the average cost per year for pet insurance for the average dog is around $576 per year, according to an analysis by Forbes. But as an example, the average insurance for a Rottweiler is over $80 per month, while for a Golden Retriever, it’s closer to $60 per month. Generally, larger breeds that are known to have aggressive tendencies will typically cost more to insure.

How Much Does It Cost to Train a Bully Kutta?

Obedience training is crucial if you own a Bully Kutta. Since the breed isn’t known to get along well with other animals, one-on-one training is likely to be the best option. Hiring a trainer for a private session with your Bully Kutta can cost anywhere from $50 to $200 or more per session, especially if you hire an expert in powerful security breeds.

If you are interested in owning a Bully Kutta, expect to spend more money on this breed than you would on a smaller dog without naturally aggressive tendencies. This breed requires more care and extra time and effort to be a good family pet.
