Scottsdale is known as the West’s Most Western Town and can be found in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, mainly because it is also a part of the metropolitan area of Phoenix. Regardless, it is a great place to either visit or live in.

But the question on every dog owner’s mind is how dog-friendly Scottsdale is.

This article has a clear answer to that question! In the following lines, you’ll find everything you need to know about the 6 best dog parks in Scottsdale! We’ll cover the parks’ schedule, entry fee (if any), and amenities for both owners and pups.

You can find Chaparral Dog Park on the north side of Chapparal Park, near Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden. Dog owners can come here to visit the garden, the basketball court, or the soccer field before or after taking their dog to the park.

This dog park has a surface area of 4 acres and features separate areas for active and passive dogs. There are no size-specific areas. Amenities available in the park include fresh grass, several play features, water fountains, and seating for owners. Seating is limited, so we recommend bringing your chair or blanket to sit on.

Chaparral Dog Park is ideal for nighttime walks as it is well-lit and considered safe by its visitors.

2. Horizon Dog Park

Horizon Dog Park is located near the WestWorld of Scottsdale and is considered an excellent spot for dogs. The park is the perfect choice during hot summer days as it features both plenty of trees and a large shade structure.

Dogs will have plenty of fun here as the park has water fountains and a water feature. Even though the latter is used to prevent dust from forming within the park, it’s clear that pups will try it as well.

Horizon Dog Park is of average size and features little to no grass. It is known for its red dirt surface, so if you have a white pup and want to avoid dirty fur, it would be better to pick another park on our list.

Even if it has a surface area of only half an acre, the Vista del Camino off-leash area is still known among dog owners in Scottsdale as a green haven. This is mainly due to its fresh and clean grassy surface that any dog would enjoy.

Amenities include:

  • There are numerous shade trees in the area.
  • Pups’ water fountains for them to cool off;
  • benches where owners can rest.

The park is located in the Vista del Camino Park, where dogs are also allowed but must be on a leash.

If the designated off-leash area for dogs is crowded, most owners recommend the central park’s walking path.

4. Eldorado Park

Eldorado Park
Address2311 N Miller Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257
Hours6 AM – 10:30 PM

Eldorado Park is one of Scottsdale’s hot spots for outdoor recreation. It is located in a larger green area consisting of several other parks. The park has a surface area of over 60 acres, and only leashed pets can access it-it has no designated areas for dogs. However, the park is riddled with amenities and fun spots for both owners and pups.

You can visit one of the many playgrounds, visit the fishing spots, or let your dog enjoy the baseball and softball fields. The park is known for its recreation fields and walking path around the lake – in short, great places to walk Fido.

Dog owners should be careful in Eldorado Park, as it can get quite crowded. Active dogs could run off due to too many distractions, while small pups might get scared. Prepare accordingly before your visit here.

Desert Mountain Dog Park is a private, off-leash park that your furry companion will undoubtedly enjoy. It is a relatively small fenced park covered in grass. Since it’s a private area, owners are not allowed to bring treats or toys inside the park – but there’s no need to worry about this!

Plenty of toys, including tennis balls, are available throughout the park for every dog to enjoy and run after. Be aware that the park is known for the high-speed ball chases in which some of its dogs engage; it will be one of your dog’s favorites!

Desert Mountain Dog Park’s only downside is that it’s far away from the city. It might not be ideal if you want to spend more time playing with your dog and less time in transit.

6. Mountain View Park

You shouldn’t be worried about crowds or parking. Mountain View Park has a surface area of over 30 acres and features multiple parking spots in and around it.
