What is Falling For Christmas About?

Falling For Christmas follows the main character, hotel heiress Sierra Belmont. At the film’s start, she’s offered the position of vice president of atmosphere at her father’s luxury ski resort. Sierra doesn’t want this position, though.

She goes with her boyfriend, Tad, an influencer, to the mountain to take pictures. However, while there, she falls and hits her head, losing her memory in the process. When she wakes up in a hospital, she doesn’t even know her own name. Jake Russell, who initially finds her, allows her to stay in his lodge/inn until she remembers or someone finds her.

The lodge he owns is called the Northstar Lodge. Sadly, the lodge is experiencing financial issues. Sierra, grateful for the help, starts to help around the lodge. She also bonds with Avy, Jake’s daughter. Sierra loves the lodge and wants to save it. So, she plans to throw a large fundraising party to save the historic building. In the end, it was declared a historic site.

While this is happening though, Sierra’s father and fiance are looking for her. They find her at the party, which triggers her memories. The next day, though, Sierra decides to live her own life, starting with tidying up her room. She breaks up with her fiance, realizing she’s in love with Jake. Sierra also talks to her father, letting him know she doesn’t want to work in the hotel industry and wants to pave her own path.

Jake confesses his feelings to Sierra, and she gladly accepts and goes back to the lodge, which is now sold out for the season. As you can imagine from this brief description, the scenery in the film is stunning and filled with snow and mountains! But where was it filmed?

Where Was Falling For Christmas Filmed?

Although Falling For Christmas is set in Aspen, Colorado, it wasn’t filmed there. Instead, most of the film was shot in Utah, which isn’t too far.

This movie was filmed in Park City, Utah, specifically Goldener Hirsch, which was portrayed as the Belmont Summit Resort. You can find the Goldener Hirsch in Deer Valley. What about the North Star Lodge? It’s also in Deer Valley and was also shot in a lodge. The Stein Eriksen Lodge was transformed into the North Star Lodge for the film. Don’t let the movie fool you; the lodge is spacious and includes luxuries like spas and pools.

While the movie Falling For Christmas mainly took place in the lodge and hotel, there are also a few outdoor scenes that were shot in Salt Lake City and Park City.

Can You Visit the Filming Locations of Falling For Christmas?

Park City is a real place to visit. It’s a beautiful city to visit during winter, especially if you love winter sports and snow. Park City was founded in 1869 and has a surface area of nearly 20 square miles. Although a popular tourist attraction, Park City is only home to about 8,400 residents. What about the hotel and lodge in the movie? Are they available to visit? The answer is yes, but the buildings may appear different. The Goldener Hirsch has won the Best Boutique Hotel title by the World Ski Awards for five years! It’s located in the center of Silver Lake Village.

The Stein Eriksen Lodge is also open for visitors. Like the Goldener Hirsch, this lodge is award-winning. It was voted the United States Best Ski Hotel 2023 by the World Ski Awards. Fine dining is available, including in the unique and cozy Stein Alpenglobes.

While here, you have the opportunity to see mammals like moose, mule deer, mountain cottontails, red foxes, coyotes, and more. Birds are also plentiful.
