The continent of Africa is home to a variety of different habitats – from grasslands and deserts to jungles and forests. Because of this level of biodiversity, Africa is populated by many unique animals that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Over 2,600 bird species, over 1,100 mammal species, 3,000 freshwater fish species and at least 100,000 different species of insects dwell there.
