Match the Animal to Their Footprints

Published 1 min read

Did you know that every animal has its own unique footprint? Just like people have fingerprints, animals leave footprints behind that make it easy to identify what type of animal has been around even if the creature is nowhere in sight. Their footprints also tell us about their behavior and how they move through the world — alone, in groups, quickly, slowly … it’s incredible what you can tell from a footprint!

Below is a free downloadable worksheet that challenges young learners to match the animal footprint with the animal itself. (An answer key is included.) On this worksheet, we take a look at the footprints of cats, elephants, deer, otters and rabbits. Take a moment to learn more about each of these animals on our website, and then challenge your knowledge with the worksheet.
