2. Sea Ducks

There are roughly 20,000 sea ducks hunted each year in Maine alone. One of our favorite spots to hunt in Maine for sea ducks is Casco Bay. This is a small inlet of the Gulf of Maine and has plenty of waterfowl. 

You could also hunt near Harpswell Sound and Yarmouth as these regions have plenty of sea ducks. These spots are ideal for a hunter looking for a relaxing weekend in nature. There are also nearby outfitters that can guide you on your hunting trip. 

3. Black Bear

If you’re looking for a larger game, Maine has plenty of black bears. Did you know that hunters harvest nearly 3,5000 black bears a year? These massive creatures love the beautiful forests and tasty berry bushes around the state. 

Black bear hunting season is generally from the end of August into September. The key to bagging a black bear is to find the perfect location. We suggest checking out Aroostook County thanks to its neverending bogs and forests.
